MEMORIAL SERVICE
On the next to the last day onboard Conquest the Brooke group held two ceremonies. The first was the raising of the "Roadrunner" flag from the ship's mast. Thanks to the Captain of the Conquest, we were granted permission to raise the flag and fly in for a considerable time. Let it suffice to say that many of the other guests on the ship were curious as to what the flag represented and there were plenty of Brooke crewmembers available to explain the significance of the emblem. The second ceremony was a combination of remembering our departed shipmates and the putting to rest of "Spambo". In remembrance of John McNamara we, as a group, decided to end the annual "Spambo" Award by burying the can of Spam at sea.
